Indian School of Business (ISB) had released an interim placement progress report in March 2014 (read it here). Now it has released the final placement report for the One Year MBA (PGP) Class of 2014. As per the report, 766 students of the Class of 2014 were placed at an average salary of 18.15 lakh. Over 350 companies participated.
Highlights
- This year, a total of 350 companies contributed around 884 offers, as compared to 819 offers made last year.

7 students opted out of the process to start their own ventures, return to their companies or family businesses.
- The technology sector continued to be the largest recruiting sector with 248 offers contributed by 48 companies. 248 offers were made by 48 companies such as Amazon, Apple, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Facebook, Google, HCL, Hewlett Packard, IBM, ITC Infotech, Microsoft, Tech M, and Wipro Ltd among others.
- The Consulting sector was the second largest recruiter, contributing 174 offers from 21 companies including AT Kearney, Accenture, Booz & Co, Boston Consulting Group, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Global eProcure, KPMG, McKinsey & Company, Oliver Wyman, Parthenon, PwC, Siemens Management Consulting, and ZS Associates among others.
- Function wise Consulting, General Management/Strategic Planning and Sales & Marketing were the most preferred areas for ISB graduates from the Class of 2014 attracting 24%, 20% and 18% of students respectively.
- This year, there was a 50% increase in the number of start-up companies participating in the placements process. Representing sectors such as Technology, Telecom, E-Commerce, Transportation and Education, many of these companies offered senior management roles such as Head – Corporate Finance, Head – Operations, GM – International Relations, etc. Around 48 offers were made by 46 start-up companies.
- The e-commerce sector was an active recruiter with leading e-commerce companies making a total of 81 offers in various roles.
- Pharma and healthcare sector made its presence felt and contributed about 80 offers this year.
- Women students at the ISB, who comprised 25% of the class, performed well both in terms of offers as well as in roles. Reflecting a trend of companies recruiting women in important roles, several leading companies offered key roles such as Director, Chief Strategy Officer, General Manager and Vice President among others.

That the Mohali and Hyderabad campus are ‘on-par’ is a noticeable theme in ISB’s 2014 placement report – the school is making a conscious effort to drive this aspect home.
- Leadership programmes constituted around 12.7% of the total number of offers made this year, and came from companies such as Aditya Birla Group, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel, GE, HCL, HUL, IBM and Philips among others
