The Class of 2017 at INSEAD maintains its reputation as “the business school of the world” with the presence of 93 nationalities of whom 34% are women.
INSEAD, with campuses at Fontainebleu, Paris, Singapore and Abu Dhabi offers a fulltime MBA program of 10 months duration attractive for those who do not want to stay away for long from work.
The average age of the batch is 29 with 42% in the age group of 26-28. The 29-31 age group forms the next big chunk at 38%. Those aged more than 31 comprise 14% while those below 26 form 6%.
The batch has an average work experience of 5.7 years, slightly more than that of the previous batch that had 5.5 years.
Regarding education background, 33% of the class was from Business administration followed by 29% engineering, 11% Economics and 9% Sciences.
Humanities and Law, Political Sciences constituted 6% each followed by others at 5% and Media & Communication at 1%.
As far as professional experience is concerned, Corporate sector has the largest share at 40% followed by Consulting at 27% and Financial Services 22%. Technology, Media and Telecommunications make up the remaining 11%.
About 35% of the students have 5 to 7 years professional experience, 33% have 3 to 5 years, 26% more than 7 years and 6% just 0-3 years experience.
In geographic diversity, Asia Pacific has the largest presence at 33% with Western/Southern Europe coming next at 29%. North America has 13% representation followed by Eastern/Northern Europe at 10%. Latin America and the Middle East have 6% each and Africa 3%.
The average GMAT score rose to 707 from the previous batch’s score of 703 (range 610-800). Whie 49% had scored in the range of 701-750, 38% were in the range of 651-700. Seven percent scored in the range of 751-800 and 6% in the range of 601-650. The highest GMAT score was 790 and the lowest 620.
Unlike several other business schools, INSEAD does not have any minimum GPA/GMAT requirement. An undergraduate degree is also not mandatory for those with an excellent career record and high GMAT score.
