The Student Villages form the four cornerstones of the campus with a mix of four-bedroom apartments and studio apartments. These have been designed to foster academic and social activities amongst students. A common lounge has been provided to give you a meeting place where you can interact with other students. None of the apartments is more than a 10-minute walk from any building on campus.

Each Student Village has a village centre where you can study, play or simply hang out. It has a lounge, a game room, study room and a services area. ISB also has a state-of-the-art water treatment plant that provides potable water in every room. Essential services like laundry and housekeeping are provided to ensure a comfortable stay on campus.

The ISB Campus is a beautiful site with large boulders, open fields and clusters of large trees. Architects of the campus have retained and highlighted the existing rock formations and the tree canopies. They have also maintained ecological balance on campus with a large artificial lake that collects rainwater from the roadways, parking lots and rooftops.

The Academic Centre is the heart of the campus. It incorporates the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), which is the knowledge hub of the institution. The LRC also has the library and IT facilities. LRC contributes in making the School a premier research centre for the international business management community. The Courtyard here is the social hub of the campus. It provides space for service outlets, facilities and leisure.

The Student Villages form the four cornerstones of the campus, each accommodating 130 to 210 students in a mix of four-bedroom apartments and studio apartments.

Books/Course Materials: All course materials are provided free of cost.

Computing: Laptops are required while studying at the ISB. 

Housing: Room rent on the campus is INR 34,669 per term plus 18% tax for shared accommodation or INR 50,050 per term plus 18% tax for a studio apartment. All apartments come with appliances, furniture, cable TV, high-speed internet, linen/housecleaning service, filtered water, and electric utilities.

Food:  The dining hall has various counters where multi-cuisine food is served. The price ranges from INR 90 to INR 150 for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.

Transport: We have a free shuttle service that operates between the campus and prominent places in the city at regular intervals. Cabs cost about INR 650 for four hours.

Two – three months before:

• Get your official invitation letter from the ISB
• Get a passport (at least 6 months validity)
• Get your visa to study in India
• Check with your doctor for appropriate medicines and vaccines
• Book your accommodation at the ISB
• Learn something fun about India

One month before:

• Confirm registration and accommodation arrangements at the ISB
• Submit course bids/preferences list to the ISB
• Get to know your ISB Buddies
• Buy air tickets

One week before:

• Inform the ISB exchange coordinator of your arrival time and date
• Get the exact address for ISB and contact names with particulars of arrival plan
• Keep home university address and contact numbers on your person
• Photocopy all important information (visa, passport, birth certificate, credit cards, travelers cheques, permanent ID/drivers license, etc), leaving a second copy at home
• Obtain a small amount of Indian currency (about INR 5000) for use upon arrival and for emergencies. In addition to cash of INR 5000, it is recommended that you bring most of the funds in traveler’s cheques in INR. However, an ATM for credit/debit cards is available on campus.
• Arrange appropriate transfer of funds – wire transfer or cash (dollars)
• Pack the most important documents in carry-on (cabin) luggage: such as passport, airline ticket and invitation letter
• Check customs and quarantine regulations and pack separately any items which you need to declare e.g. food, agriculture products, laptop, etc. Detailed information about Indian customs regulations is available from the Indian Embassy or high commission in your country. You may log on to www.cbec.gov.in for information on Indian customs regulations.
• Bring a spare pair of glasses/contact lenses and prescription of medicines if needed. Suggestions: visine (for airplane air and pollution), lomotil (for diarrhea), pepto bismal tablets and/or alka seltzer (for stomach pains), aspirin and sinus Tylenol (for headaches), antiseptic cream (for mosquito bites), Avon’s “Skin So Soft” and insect repellent (mosquito repellent).
• Pack some personal items such as photos, address book with contact details of family and friends to help you stay in touch with people back at home
• Pack something from your home country/culture to share (e.g. costume, snack, recipe)

• Report to the exchange coordinator upon your arrival at the ISB
• Meet the Academic Services and Administration department  for help on courses and classes
• Register with the police department within 2 weeks of your arrival
• Meet your assigned buddies for a tour of Hyderabad city organised by the ISB
• Practice going out with some friends in an autorickshaw before heading off by yourself
• The housekeeping team has keys to your apartment, and will come in automatically to clean. For help conversing in Hindi with the house keeping staff, call the receptionist at extension ‘0’ for a translation
• The water on campus is completely safe, but be careful outside (drink bottled water only)
• Get to know your host family and celebrate cultural festivals
• Electrical plug adapters are available with the IT department located in the IT department located in AC 3 Courtyard (Hyderabad) / Behind Recreation centre (Mohali)
• India is a great place, so make the most of your time here! You can plan trips with the ISB travel desk. They will deliver your tickets on campus.
• You will want to set up a bank account with ICICI Bank/Indian bank on campus.
• Meet the Finance department to settle payments

Application forms are due at least 1 month prior to the term of joining. Please courier your materials at least 2 weeks before this deadline to ensure that it arrives on time.

ISB Fact Sheet

Expected date of arrival:
It is compulsory for exchange students to reach the campus at least two days before the term begins and they are required to be on campus till their term ends (including exams). An orientation session is conducted on the first Wednesday of the term.

Visa:
Visas are required for all nationalities and the processing usually takes 1-2 months from the time of application. You will be provided with a visa letter addressed to the Indian embassy in your country. Please write to Abdul Aziz for your visa letter. You are expected to take care of all other visa formalities. All international students will need a visa to study in India and an ordinary tourist visa will not be sufficient. Please contact the Indian embassy in the home country for further details.

Incoming exchange students are expected to be on their best behaviour, and respect the rules and honour codes of both host and home institutions. Exchange students will receive the due number of credits, but do not receive a degree or diploma from the ISB. They are to represent themselves to outsiders (such as recruiters) as exchange students only and not as ISB students.
