What Makes NMP (2018-19) Cohort at MDI Gurgaon Net An Average 19 Lacs at Placements?
0The Final Placement for the 31st batch (2018-19) of the 1 Year Full Time National Management Program (NMP) at MDI, Gurgaon, saw the students drawing an average salary of Rs 19 Lakh per Annum (LPA) with the median salary at Rs 18 LPA and the highest at Rs 60 LPA.
MDI Gurgaon had launched the 15-month National Management Program (NMP) way back in 1987 as a pioneering effort. Much before others thought about it, MDI had felt the need for a program that imparted leadership and business management skills to executives with work experience and helps them reach the top of the career graph.
NMP is also accredited as a full-time MBA by AMBA, the Association of MBAs (UK). It lays special focus on developing leaders who will excel in the rapidly changing business environment, become agents of change and be charged with a customer-centric orientation.

We had a mix of students from all kinds of sectors including automotive, retail, information technology, manufacturing, consulting and BFSI among others.”

NMP Class Profile
The 55-member cohort has an average work experience of 7.8 years and international work experience of 228 months. In effect, it means you will be among people who have put in a number of years in their chosen profession. It translates to lively classroom discussions, exchange of knowledge and networking opportunities.
Take a look at the work experience. While 43% of the cohort came in with 6-8 years, 22% had 8-10 years, 18% less than 6 years and 16% with 10+ years.
NMP 2019 Placement Details
At the Placement, the students received an average salary of Rs 19 LPA with the median salary at Rs 18 LPA and the highest at Rs 60 LPA.
In sector-wise placement, 50% chose IT, 23% Manufacturing, 14% Hospitality, 10% Finance and 3% Consulting.

Talking about the placements, Prof S S Tripathi, Coordinator-Executive Placements, MDI Gurgaon said, “The placements of the 31st batch (2018-19) of the program were quite good. We had a mix of students from all kinds of sectors including automotive, retail, information technology, manufacturing, consulting and BFSI among others.”
“The diversity of experienced professionals makes the NMP program unique. There was a steady flow of companies visiting the campus. Middle management roles like senior manager, general manager and assistant vice president were offered besides the regular roles of manager, project manager, consultant and analyst,” he added.
“Many of the companies had roles based in India yet their scope was global in nature and people were hired as part of global teams deployed in India. The major recruiters included Trident, Accenture, HSBC, Genpact, TCS, Infosys, Hero Fincorp and Udaan to name a few.
“Against the common perception of lesser jobs at the middle management level, many of these companies had expansion plans and required a good number of seasoned professionals who can start performing from day one, ” Prof. Tripathi said.
Saying that companies prefer to hire experienced professionals for their expansion plans, he said only those having five years and above work experience were eligible to enroll for NMP. He also noted that the NMP was the oldest full-time program at MDI.
NMP Program Details
During the course of the program, the participants are expected to develop an ability to recognize and seize opportunities in a competitive environment. global sensitivity and mindset.
NMP will help in improving your communication skills, leadership and teamwork besides engendering a commitment towards the betterment of the society.
The Program Learning Goals (LGs) are Value Based Education, Global Management Perspective, Leadership Orientation and a Consultative and Collaborative Mindset.

Highly Interactive Program Demands Student Participation
NMP demands substantial participation from the students due to its highly interactive nature. The teaching is based on recent research studies and experience gathered from around the world. Teaching methods include lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, business games, role plays, simulations exercises, structured and unstructured group work and field visits.
The emphasis is on motivating the participants to integrate the concepts, learning across the core curriculum and apply them to their own work experience and contemporary business situations.
Group Activities Solve Business Problems
Group activities provide excellent opportunities to examine a business problem collectively and to learn from the varied cross-functional experiences of the participants. The students will be involved in group assignment / submissions of case analysis and presentations as also group tasks in learning by doing.
NMP also has an optional International Component. After completion of 12 months at the MDI campus, participants will get international exposure for a period of two weeks in some South East Asia Business Schools.
Continuous Evaluation Keeps You on Your Toes
During the program, the participants are evaluated on a continuous basis with a final examination at the end of each term. The course evaluation is in terms of letter grades.
You have to achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average in each term, as well as a minimum letter grade in each course. Evaluation of the dissertation project work will also be counted in the overall performance.
The dissertation/project report is to be submitted within three months of completion of the course. Otherwise, you will be debarred from the program.
All components of the NMP should be completed within a period of maximum two years from the date of commencement of the program.
Participants who successfully complete the Program are awarded the Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (National Management Programme) which is recognized by AICTE.
