IIM Ranchi MBA / PGP Eligibility Criteria And Admission

Eligibility For PGDM 

  • Only those candidates will be able to apply who have a Bachelor’s degree or any other equivalent degree. 50% marks are the minimum that a candidate needs to apply, but SC, ST, and Differently Abled candidates must have at least 45% marks. This degree must be issued by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India. Or else, it should be issued by other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Or the applicant must have an equivalent degree which is issued by a recognised institution by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.
  • Students such as those who are appearing in the final year of examination can apply based on their latest examinations, but the terms are the same – they need at least 50% marks.

Admissions

ADMISSION CRITERIA FOR TWO-YEAR POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMME IN MANAGEMENT (PGP) BATCH OF 2020-22

The admission process depends upon multiple factors such as candidates’ performance in the CAT 2019, Personal Interview (PI), Written Ability Test (WAT), and their profiles followed by the WAT and PI processes.

Take a look at the following, which includes cut-off CAT percentiles, weightage for different components, and the profile scoring method:

Initial Shortlisting for WAT/PI Process 

Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, and New Delhi are the centres where the WAT and PI process would be conducted. The shortlisted candidates would be communicated about exact dates. The coordinator for CAP 2020 would be IIM Ranchi.

Final Admissions 2020-22

Once the WAT and PI process completes, the admission offer will be made to students based on the merit list. The following factors will drive the Consolidated Merit List (CML):

CAT Percentile

Candidates who are eligible for WAT and PI will get 30% weightage to the CAT score.

For WAT and PI’s performance, an extra 10% and 30%, respectively, weightage will be assigned to candidates.

Academic Diversity at Bachelor’s degree level (5 marks)

  • 5 marks will be awarded, If bachelor’s degree is a Non-Engineering bachelor’s degree
  • Else, ‘0’ marks will be awarded

Gender Diversity (5 marks) 

  • Additional five marks will be assigned to female and transgender candidates only.

Reservation Policy

IIM Ranchi will apply the Government of India reservation policy for admission to Central Educational Institutions (CEIs). Final discretion on classifying an academic program that is eligible for an academic diversity score will rest with IIM, Ranchi.

IIM, Ranchi has the full right to modify, change, add or delete any selection criteria or any other information, if required. Details in the selection criteria document are only applicable to the PGP program short-listing, selection, and admissions process of IIM Ranchi for the class of 2020-22.
