Tab 6 – Curriculum
Pedagogy
The curriculum is a mix of lectures, classroom discussions, group discussions, case studies, simulations, role-plays, special sessions from professionals in this industry.
The methodology also comprises activities such as management games, industrial visits, sensitivity training, management films, and industry interaction. Students can also present their written case reports, individual or group presentations based on their case analysis.
In the two-year duration of this programme, students must go through the core and elective courses. In the first year, students are introduced to core courses, and this year is divided into three terms (a Term is typically ten weeks of classes and at most two weeks of examinations).
The elective courses start from the third term, and it works like this; in the 1st and 2nd term, students are introduced with only core courses, whereas in the 3rd term, they have to continue with core courses plus elective courses as well. These elective courses help students for further specialization in their area of interest.
However, after the first year of study, all students must go through the Summer Internship of 10 to 12 weeks in a public or private corporate organization.
From Term-4 to Term-6, students only study elective courses, which come under the second year of the programme. Students can choose any courses such as independent study, exchange programmes, and complementary International Immersion Programme (IIP).
To provide exposure to the international business scenarios and global best practices, the institute provides an International Immersion Programme, which is also a part of the full-time course curriculum. The IIP is typically held after the 3rd term.
Programme Structure and Credits
Fore uses the concept of credits to indicate the number of in-class contact hours. One credit stands for ten in-class contact hours. For instance, a 3.0 credit course includes around 100 hours of work, which means 30 hours in the classroom and the rest for assignments and preparation.
To get the degree from FORE School for the Post Graduate Diploma in Management, a student must obtain at least 103.5 Credits (in total). Where the 97.5 credits come from classroom teaching, and the other 6.0 from the Summer Internship programme. More specifically, from the 97.5 credits, the 54.0 comes from core courses, and the rest 43.5 from elective courses.
However, do note that the credits earned from SIP (Summer Internship Program) would not be applicable for the calculation of CGPA.
The Year and Term- wise Credit Course structure in the PGDM programme is in the table below:
First year | |
Term-1 | 21 credits (core) |
Term-2 | 21 credits (core) |
Term-3 | 18 credits ( 12 credits from Core courses + 06 credits from Electives) |

This programme by FORE School of Management allows students to specialize in the two most areas. This is how a student can choose five credits of electives in the area of specialization. And because of the credit system, students will be allowed to opt for the 3rd area of specialization.
Students can find the elective course from each Sentient Area; thus, a student gets better opportunities to choose the area of specialization. The Sentient Area may specify a particular course, such as Specialization Area Prerequisite (SARP), which is only for students who decided to specialize in a specific area of interest.
