An alumnus of the the the Indian School of Business’s (ISB) founding Executive MBA class (Post Graduate Programme in Management for Senior Executives – PGPMAX), Dr Satyanarayana Chava, Chief Executive Officer, Laurus Labs has announced a Rs 1.5 Crore monetary grant for ISB through his company, to enhance the quality of teaching and research. The grant money will be given to ISB over a span of three years.

This is Chava’s second contribution to ISB, with his earlier contribution aimed at supporting the ‘Technology Commercialisation Programme’ for scientists at ISB.

Speaking about the collaboration to Financial Express, Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB said, “ISB alumni are our brand ambassadors and standard bearers. They contribute to the school through ‘Work, Wisdom and Wealth’.  Chava is an inspiration for all of us. He has created a very successful business, and is passionate about contributing to social causes. On behalf of the ISB community, I thank him for his generosity.”

Chava, who has track record of 26 years in the pharmaceutical industry, especially in research and development, manufacturing and business development, considers this an investment in the future through ISB. “It is my belief that the value of any great institution like ISB comes from three angles – its faculty, its students and the learning environment that it provides. We decided to invest in the first and contribute to building the faculty,” he commented.

The PGPMAX programme is an Executive MBA programme (part-time MBA programme for working professionals) and is pursued typically by senior executives with 15 to 20 years work experience. (Source – Financial Express, Image courtesy – ssete)
