E-commerce major Amazon India has made the highest offer of Rs 51 lakh during the 2015 MBA (PGPM) placements at Great Lakes Institute of Management with campuses at Chennai and Delhi. As per the B-School, other key recruiters this year included E-commerce majors such as Snapdeal, Caratlane, and IndiaProperty.com.
Great Lakes offers an Association of MBAs, UK approved MBA of one-year duration which inducts students with substantial work experience, in line with global norms for an MBA course, as well as a two-year PGDM course that is targeted at freshers with 0-2 years of work experience and is similar to a Masters in Business Management (MBM/ MIM) course offered outside India by most global schools.
This report pertains to the placement outcome for graduates of the MBA (PGPM) course.
As per this institute this is an interim placement report as on 12th February,2015 and a more detailed final placement report will be released shortly.
The release of interim placement reports seems to be becoming a trend in India – ISB and IIM Indore are some of the other B-Schools that released teaser snapshots of placements in 2014-15.
As per Great Lakes, the Rs 51 lakh offer represents the highest offer any firm has made at the institute so far, this year. It is however not clear whether the offer is a domestic offer (in Rupees) or an international offer (in Dollars).
Amazon has been recruiting aggressively from MBA programmes (one-year in duration) in India – Amazon made a 1 Crore domestic offer at IIM B to an MBA (EPGP) student in 2013.
The average annual salary at the B-school has also increased from last year’s Rs 11.43 lakh to Rs 12.02 lakh this year (calculated on the basis of both international and domestic offers).
Accenture, Cognizant, Deloitte, HSBC Technologies, Infosys, iNautix, ITC Infotech, Mogae Media, Scope International, TCS and Wipro were some of the major recruiters at the institute.
Maximum profiles were offered in Technology Consulting (33%) followed by Sales & Marketing (22%) and Business Consulting (16%).
The 2015 season saw several new roles being offered in emerging areas like Analytics and E-Commerce. Business Analytics emerged as a major area with 17% of the students taking up profiles in the area offered by Analytics, Consulting and IT firms.
The institute follows a rolling process of placements and as per the B-School, about 95 per cent of the batch from the class of 381 students has already been placed.
R Shreenath, director, corporate & career services, Great Lakes Institute of Management, said, “The placement scenario for Great Lakes this season has been highly rewarding with almost the entire batch getting placed before graduation. The record CTC of Rs 51 Lakh from Amazon and a continuous rise in the average CTC for the batch clearly show the ever-growing confidence of recruiting corporates in our students’ quality, performance and contribution.”
