0The application process for the 1-year full-time MBA program 2019 class at University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics begins in September and the rolling admission process will continue till May 11, 2019.
If the seats get filled up by the deadline, eligible candidates will be put on a waitlist. Thus, it is in the interest of the candidate to submit the application form at the earliest.
Gatton says accelerated One Year MBA option is an immersive, cross-disciplinary, hands-on experience designed for both recent graduates, young professionals and dual degree candidates. The curriculum incorporates a number of core business processes positioned for both business and non-business students, along with military.
The program attracts participants with various academic backgrounds ranging from engineering, communications, STEM and health sciences to agriculture, arts and sciences, as well as business.
The One Year MBA experience includes highly interactive, experiential courses situated in the corporate setting through the built-in internship program called Project Connect.

You need to have completed undergraduate major and will have to present GPA and GMAT/GRE scores (if required). The documents to be submitted include a personal statement, proof of work experience, letter of recommendation and evidence of writing skills as well as extracurricular, community and professional activities.
The school says it looks for academically and professionally strong applicants who show the greatest potential for successfully completing the program and succeeding in a leadership capacity.
“We look for applicants whose backgrounds will contribute to the academic excellence and the demographic, educational and experiential diversity of each class. Because our goal is to prepare or enhance business leaders of the future, our review includes all aspects of an applicant’s background.”
The international scholarship and priority scholarship have an application deadline of January 15, 2019. The final scholarship deadline is April 1, subject to availability of funds. The domestic application deadline is May 1.
You also need to have undergone MBA preparatory (or “prerequisite”) courses: Macro Economics, Micro Economics, Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting. Incoming students who do not have a Business or STEM undergraduate degree should complete Business Math and Statistics. Those who have not regularly worked with Microsoft Excel (either professionally or academically) should complete an Excel for MBA Students course.
Candidates can apply without the required MBA preparatory courses, but these must be completed before the final application deadline.
How to Apply
You have to visit the University of Kentucky’s Graduate School page to submit a graduate application to the MBA program. All recommended applications by the MBA Center must be approved by the Graduate School at the University of Kentucky.
While the school accepts either the GMAT or GRE as part of the graduate entrance exam requirement, it has not set a minimum GMAT or GRE score requirement. The average GMAT or GRE score (and GPA) of applicants admitted to the program varies from year to year, depending on the pool of applications received.
The University of Kentucky’s Graduate School requires a minimum 2.75 GPA for entry into any Master’s program. If the MBA Center wants to admit an applicant to the MBA program with a GPA below 2.75, then a waiver must be recommended and then approved by the Graduate School.
Scholarships
Scholarships for the MBA program are limited and competitive and determined by the UK MBA Admissions Committee based on the overall competitiveness of a candidate’s application. All applications received by the designated scholarship deadlines are automatically considered for the general scholarship award.
Candidates who apply after the scholarship deadline will be considered (as funds are available). All scholarships will be based on information collected through the admissions application, so there is no separate scholarship application required.
