HEC Paris inaugurated its e-Lab on 20th May, 2014. The school says the e-lab is a unique space dedicated to high-technology, creativity, team work and communication.
HEC Paris says the ‘e’ in e-Lab signifies both ‘entrepreneurship’ and ‘electronic’, emphasizing the close link between the two. The spanking new facility is equipped with high-speed technology and is enabled for video-conferences: its walls are painted with “white-board” paint, and all equipment is mobile and can be moved with ease, as needed.
The creation of such a facility has been made possible thanks to the generosity of Jean-Luc Allavena, Pascal de Jenlis and Pascal Cagni, all of whom are major donors to the HEC Foundation.
The e-Lab is intended for HEC Paris students who wish sharpen their entrepreneurship skills. HEC Professors will bring along their expertise in the form of teaching and coaching and international experts, entrepreneurs, lawyers and investors will also use the space to share their own experiences, tips and advice. Teaching in the e-Lab will be based on ‘action learning’, with lessons, teamwork, meetings and knowledge-sharing.
Bernard Ramanantsoa, Dean of HEC Paris, underlined the importance of entrepreneurship: “Let us remember that entrepreneurship is one of the major components in HEC Paris’ Global Strategy. HEC has had numerous initiatives on this topic, ever since the creation of the HEC Major in Entrepreneurship, the launch of Challenge+, and most recently, the set-up of the HEC Incubator, established in 2007. Today, we are pleased to inaugurate our e-Lab and we would like to thank the donors who have supported this project. This new space is the ideal place to promote collaboration between students and project leaders who want to work and learn together.”
