IIM A’s 2015 one year MBA (PGPX) inaugurated
16IIMA, April 07, 2014: The ninth batch of IIMA’s One Year full time Post-Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX 2014-15) was inaugurated on April 6, 2014 by Prof. Ajay Pandey, Dean (Programmes), Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA).
Eighty Five students have joined PGPX 2014-15 batch from a large application pool and after an elaborate selection process. Prof. Anurag K. Agarwal, Chairperson, PGPX delivered the welcome address and Prof. G. Raghuram, Dean (Faculty) and Founder Chairperson, PGPX delivered the concluding address. Incoming students, their family members, and the IIMA faculty members attended the inauguration.
The batch has an impressive profile with average GMAT score of 705, average age of around 34 years, average total work experience of 10 years and average international work experience of 3 years (Detailed batch profile attached below).
The PGPX was launched in 2006 and till date nearly 646 students have graduated from the programme. The current batch has 15 % women and includes participants from various backgrounds like Education, Energy/Power, Financial Services, FMCG, Government Services, Healthcare, Industrial/Procession & Automation, Infrastructure, IT and IT Services, Law, Management Consultancy, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Process, Media, NGOs, Telecom, Defense.

Sir i am retired from Defence (INDIAN NAVY) after completion of 15 years of work experience on 31 Jul 2014. I joined on 31 Jul 1999 as a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Jharsuguda Engg School in 1997, Odisha, then on 2005 I passed BSc in Marine Engineering from Kochin Unversity of Technology, Then I passed AMIE in Mechanical Engineering from The Institution of Engineers (INDIA) Kolkata on 2013 during service. Now I appeared CAT 2014 and XAT 2015. I want to do full time Executive MBA for duration 01 year in Operation/Production Management. Please call me whether I am suitable in IIM-A.

Hi Akhouri, your search for a full time executive MBA will invariably end in disappointment as we are yet to come across this mythical creature. An MBA can be either an executive MBA which is a part time programme meant for people who work in the day as executives, or it can be a full time one year MBA or full time two year MBA – all full time MBA programmes outside India require work ex – that doesn’t make them executive MBAs -in fact its is the two-year programmes in India which have been wrongly marketed to Indian students as an MBA – they don’t meet global standards to qualify as one. Hi Gaurav, the Executive MBA at IIM A has gone for kung-fu training to Shaolin and its never coming back. If you are adamant about doing it, you could travel to China, or…and we suspect this is the choice you will prefer – you could consider pursuing a regular MBA of one-year duration. If you decide the latter suits you better, let is know and we will get into more details of hows, whys and whens. I have experience of 7 years in financial modeling & valuation (US market) in KPO. I have completed MMS (Finance) from University of Mumbai & CFA (ICFAI).
Can PGPx help me to get job in PE,VC,IB or consultancy (finance) considering i do not have front end experience but have indepth understading about Financial Modeling & Valuation.

Hi , I am looking forward to do a one year full time mba from a premier institute, presently working as part of junior management with a teleco with 8 years of experience . From past few months I was trying to gather basics ,But still trying to understand what will be impact of grades which I had received in my 10th ,12th and graduation as I was a average scorer.

Do the organization’s name (Brand Wise) with which you are associated also matters in the selection process??
Yes a good brand name company will stand out, just like education at an IIT, or NLS, or AIIMS will stand out. But what matters more is the quality of work experience. Someone who accomplished a lot at ‘not so well known company’ might stand a better chance than someone who swatted flies at Google 🙂

Nice to see that all questioning and admin is replying.Its a good platform to ask ones queries, So ,I am getting my leg in between . Sir I am a Mariner .I am an Electrical officer served on board .Till now I have sailed in many countries and have worked with different nationalities.I know some other languages too Though I have graduation in electrical and electronics passed with first division, I just want to know that I am an average guy not having outstanding record in academics. As such ,I am very hard working yet intelligent and enthusiastic individual.I am having experience in operations and management. I have extra certification from iim in general management in shipping.Please give me a real thing that by pursuing executive management from iim will be worth for me or not.

It is time to me to switch the company & join an elite institute like IIM Ahmadabad in Executive MBA. I am an Engineer in Defense Public sector with 10 years work experience in Operation Management. I have done by 10th & 12 with first division. After completed diploma in electronics with honors. In continuation, completed my Engineering with 73%. Recently i have dine my MTech with honors.
With a vast experience as Project planner, i am interested in executive MBA from IIMA,IIMB OR IIMK. There is a chance & how much GMAT score will work for the admission in IIMA. Plz suggest.
