Graduates from the top line Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are able to get a much higher pay package than others, according to the Campus Hiring Report 2018 by the global online talent measurement solution provider Mettl.
IIM graduates were able to draw 121% more than those from other B-schools while engineering graduates from the IITs received salary packages that were 137% higher than that of the average engineer, the report said.
The survey, conducted from January to June, covered 194 institutes in India, comprising 114 engineering and 80 management institutions. It took into consideration the placement statistics available for FY 2017-18.
General management roles accounted for the maximum number at 31%. In senior management, the highest paid roles commanded118% in excess of the average salary of MBA graduates, it added.
MBA graduates in the technology domain received the highest average salary package of Rs 14.8 lakh per annum, the report said. Region-wise, western India topped with 17% higher compensation than the average salary.
In IITs too, Computer Science/Information Technology graduates netted the highest annual package of Rs 6.9 lakh per annum. New age skills like machine learning and data science were much in demand among the employers, the report stated.

He noted that there was increased demand for skilled candidates across all domains. The employers were recruiting more from the campus to attract quality talent to meet this demand.
However, even after attracting the best talent, employers have to contend with early attrition to inability to retain people even after giving lucrative offer letters and salary packages, he added.
The report scorecard categorizes students on the basis of their performance in the assessments, which helps organizations conducting campus hiring programmes to recruit high-quality talent in a time and cost-effective, reliable, and efficient manner.
