Top Recruiters and Highest Salary Package

Here is a quick review of the salary package offered to students during the IIM placements 2020 and details on theIIM placement process, highest salary, average salary, top companies and job roles.

The PGP placements at IIM usually happen from December-February each year. The average salary package ranges from Rs 20-25 lakh per annum at top IIMs and between Rs 10-20 lakh per annum at the newer IIMs. At the top IIMs – A, B and C, the highest CTC offered so far has been between Rs 70 lakh to Rs 1 crore and the International salary packages offered are Rs 60 lakh and above.

The roles offered to these PGP/MBA graduates are spread across different sectors and domains, mostly for the positions of Consultant and Managers. Which is why, in this article,all relevant details with regard to the IIM placements of all the 20 campuses including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow are discussed.

IIM Placement Process

The placement process at IIM are conducted in three phases– namely Summer, Lateral and Final Placements.

Summer Placements: The summer placements are for recruiting students for internships in the months of April-May and it happens for a period of 4-5 days in March. These summer placements help in building a platform to receive pre-placement offers (PPOs). Both the recruiters and the students have to adhere to an elaborate set of rules.

Lateral Placements: The lateral placements are held every few months before the final placements and 2^ndyear PGP students with work experience (18 months and more) are eligible to appear for these.

Final Placements: The final placement process happens in February-March and the same process is followed across all IIMs barring few changes. For instance, IIM Ahmedabad follows the cohort-based system in place of a day-based system. In a cohort based system recruiters evaluates the students over a long period of time.

IIM Placements 2020: Highest/Average salary packages offered

At the recently established IIMs such as IIM Shillong, IIM Kashipur, IIM Nagpur and IIM Amritsar there has been anotable increase in the highest salary when compared to the earlier batch. While in 2019, the highest CTC at IIM Shillong was Rs 28 LPA, it shot up to Rs 48.50 LPA in 2020. In the same way, at IIM Kashipur, the highest CTC offered in 2019 was Rs 28 LPA and it rose to Rs 45 LPA this year. In 2019, for IIM Nagpur and IIM Amritsar, the CTC moved from 19 LPA and 21 LPA respectively to Rs 40 LPA in 2020.

However, the average salary hasn’t shown much of an increase since 2019. The table below shows the highest domestic CTC and average CTC offered across various IIM campuses based on the latest final placement reports available.
