IIM Indore Becomes 10th Member Institute of GMAC

Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) the creator of the GMAT exam has announced a 10th member school in India, Indian Institute of Management, Indore.

Its current list of member schools include IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, Indian School of Business, NMIMS University, S P Jain Institute of Management & Research, XLRI, Xavier School of Management and Great Lakes Institute of Management

GMAC president and CEO Sangeet Chowfla said since its inception, IIM Indore is one of the finest B-Schools in the country today and the association will enable IIM Indore work with leading business schools from around the world. “It will allow both GMAC and IIM Indore to reach more diverse audiences of both schools and students,” added Chowfla.

Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, director IIM Indore said, “IIM Indore has a unique position as a contextually relevant business school with world-class academic standards. We are confident that the development will give us access to a larger student base and latest market research in management education.”

As per GMAC’s website, Member schools form an important part of the governance of the Council and, because GMAC’s Board of Directors sets the strategic agenda of the Council, member schools are expected to vote in all Board elections and any other matters that may come before the Council.

GMAC’s website goes on to says, “(Member B-Schools must exhibit) a sustained commitment to supporting the GMAC mission…and are expected to participate in activities that support the GMAC mission, for example GMAC surveys, advisory groups and other forums to contribute to the development of new products and services that will advance management education.” Read more about the

In India, the GMAT exam is accepted for admissions at more than 200 programs offered at over 100 business schools. Globally accepted by more than 1500 universities, it is the most widely used assessment for graduate management admissions and the most reliable predictor of academic success in graduate business studies.
