IIM Indore Inaugurates Spanking New Finance Lab

IIM Indore inaugurated an all new Finance Lab on Monday, December 22, 2014 in the presence of Mr. Avinash Vashistha, Chairman and Geography Managing Director, Accenture India and Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore.

As a part of the Lab, the Institute has procured 12 Thomson Reuters Eikon terminals which would provide the participants with comprehensive financial data and research from nearly 1,600 global brokerage houses.

Thomson Reuters Eikon is used extensively by the financial industry including investment banks, equity research, asset management and trading desks, etc.

The B-School says this new initiative will go a long way in encouraging research in the finance domain and making participants industry ready.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Lab was performed by the Mr. Vashistha, Chairman and Geography Managing Director, Accenture India. He interacted with students and shared his views on how the Finance Lab could be used for the benefit of the IIM I student community.

Commenting on the launch, Ankan Paul, a recent graduate from IIM Indore (MBA Class of 2013-14) said, “It’s a great initiative. When we were at the University of Texas at Austin for our international immersion, we experienced for ourselves the fantastic value addition their finance lab provided. I think this move is going to put IIM I students right in the front row in witnessing and analyzing financial data. IIM Indore could also consider creating a fund with the help of fund management organisations to give students a chance to learn from the market.”

As per an IIM I press note, various workshops are being organized to make the participants aware of this resource and several publications are also planned in the near future.
