IIM Indore Launches 9th Batch of EPGP
0IIM Indore has launched the ninth batch of its one-year full-time Executive Post Graduate Program in Management (EPGP) comprising 48 (42 men and 6 women participants) experienced professionals from diverse industry domains.
The inauguration on April 17, 2017 commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Guest Abhinav Goel, Senior Director and Country Head—Emerging Corporate Group with India Ratings (Analytical Team North).
Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore; Professor Ashish Sadh, Chair, EPGP, Professor Kamal K. Jain, Dean (Academic) were present at the event along with the participants from the new batch.
Prof. Krishnan, in his welcome address, stressed the need for the students to stay focused. Then only would they be able to gain the maximum from the program and evolve as a person wth a more enhanced skillset.
EPGP gives an opportunity to interact with the people from various industries having rich experience, who can shed light on the current trends in the industry, he pointed out.
“The nature of business is changing rapidly, and buying online has taken deep roots in the industry. There is a huge shift from regular to online retail, artificial intelligence and automation services. Being a part of EPGP during such changing scenario would help participants develop skills required to manage this tremendous changing landscape,” he added.
Goel, in his inaugural address, highlighted three key points to success — objective, focus and exploration. “During the one-year program, never lose the sight of the objective you had in mind while investing your time and money into this course. Always remember why you came here, and what you wish to be after graduating from IIM Indore,” he said.
He noted that EPGP would give the participants a chance to explore an entirely diverse set of people, coming from various industries along with the diverse education during the foreign immersion. “Keep exploring and learning new things,” he added.
The session was followed by a briefing about library resources, plagiarism, and infrastructure facilities. The event concluded with a Question & Answer session.
Accredited by Association of MBAs (AMBA), EPGP is an intensive one-year residential program. It is specially designed to enhance knowledge, skills and capabilities essential for managing and leading organizations.
The program combines skill building with exploration of good management practices. In addition to a comprehensive functional core module, there are elective courses aligned with the industry concentration identified for the program such as Analytics, BFSI, e-Commerce, Operations & Strategy, etc.
The core courses are to provide a general management perspective at an elevated pitch compared to the PGP program.
Its Mission is to produce contextually relevant middle and senior level managers and leaders with exposure to word class management education.
In learning goals, EPGP participants are expected to demonstrate data analytical skills along with an understanding of management science in decision making process.
They should develop interpersonal awareness and ability to work in teams. The students should have an awareness of legal financial environment of business and become effective communicators.
They should have an understanding of the ethical dimensions of management decision making, integrated and strategic thinking and awareness of global issues affecting business
The program, that spreads over 700 classroom contact hours, offers five weeks of International Immersion at McCombs School of Business, University of Texas, Austin.
More than 50 electives are offered in Finance, Marketing, Data Analytics and Economics. Regular Guest Lectures and Conferences with Industry Leaders enable participants to visualize disruptive advancements and future challenges.
Compulsory courses on spreadsheet modelling, management communication, financial accounting etc. are offered by Harvard Business School. Participants are also taught Data analytical skills along with an understanding of management science in decision making process.
