IIM Indore has launched the Class of 2015 of its one-year full time MBA – the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP).
The Class of 2014-15 was formally inaugurated on September 15, 2014 by Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director, IIM Indore. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Janakiraman Srinivasan, Chief Technology Officer & Member of Board, Mindtree & Professor Jayasimha K.R., Chair, EPGP.
Introduced in the year 2010, the one-year full time Executive Post Graduate Programme of IIM Indore is the first MBA programme at IIM Indore to exclusively induct candidates with 5+ years of professional work experience. Globally, substantial prior work experience is a basic requirement for admission to an MBA course.
By virtue of these tighter eligibility norms, the course meets MBA accreditation norms laid down by Association of MBAs, UK. While IIM I is yet to apply for AMBA accreditation, some other IIMs such as IIM C that have applied for it, have received MBA accreditation for their one-year MBA course and Masters in Management accreditation for their two-year PGP course.
In a press note, the institute says that the programme is specially designed to enhance knowledge, skills and capabilities essential for managing and leading organizations, and the programme combines skill building with exploration of good management practices.

The residential programme consists of 6 terms of 6 weeks each, including an international immersion term wherein the EPGP participants get to spend a complete term at University of Texas at Austin, USA.
While delivering the inaugural address, Professor Krishnan congratulated the participants for successfully making it to programme. The chief guest of the event, Mr. Janakiraman held an open house with the participants on Mid Career Transition Challenges .
Drawing lessons from his own personal experience of transitioning from a manager at Wipro to founding member of Mindtree to investor & founding member of a cloud computing startup, Mr. Janakiraman articulated ten tradeoffs that are likely to be made during such transitions. The key tradeoffs included; distance versus displacement, depth versus breadth and high tech versus low tech.
On a related note, news coming from the institute suggests that from next year on-wards, the one-year MBA programme at the institute will move to an April-March academic cycle as is custom for most one-year MBA programmes in India. This has been a long standing demand of the alumni of the B-School and something this website reported on a while back.
