All the women candidates enrolling for the 1-year International Programme in Management for Executives (IPMX) at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML) will get an option to join the private sector Axis Bank.
IIML and Axis Bank have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) under the WE Lead initiative of the Bank. In a statement, the bank said it was part of the efforts to go beyond placements to focus on leadership, nurturing and inclusivity by developing mid-managerial talent among women.
The initiative was launched way back in 2013 in association with the Indian School of Business (ISB). At that time, 12 students were selected for the project.
In terms of Industry Mix, 34% of the class is from IT/IT Services, 16% from Power/Energy, 15% Manufacturing, 8% Banking/Finance, 6% Telecom, 5% each in Insurance, Construction and Automobile besides 3% E-Commerce/Retail.
This initiative is the brainchild of Shikha Sharma, CEO, Axis Bank. “This cohort is important from the point of view of building a strong career foundation for women to stay within the workforce and progress on to senior levels of management,” the bank said.
Aimed at those interested in building a career in the banking sector, the program would provide an overview of the Indian banking industry with a focus on current and future trends and other important areas of banking like retail, corporate, wholesale and consumer business. It also focuses on nurturing business leadership skills in the backdrop of the current business milieu.
The IPMX, according to IIM Lucknow, provides an industry-relevant curriculum, international immersion module and case study based pedagogy designed to transform candidates to industry leaders of tomorrow. It is the flagship program run from the Noida campus of IIM Lucknow, the only IIM with two fully owned campuses.
The program is accredited by AMBA (Association of MBAs) and has gained acceptance amongst corporates in India and abroad.
Specifically designed for mid and senior level executives who take a break from their professions to pursue higher education, IPMX designed to groom executives not only to enhance their skills and competencies but also to help them gain a much more holistic perspective of business.
The Class of 2018 comprises 61 students with 92% men and 8% women. The median age is 30 years. The average work experience is 8.4 years. The average international work experience is 8.4 years.
While 30% are from Operations, and 23% each from Project Management and Software Development. The rest are from Consulting (10%), Marketing & Sales (8%), General Management and Entrepreneurship at 3% each.
