PGPX (Global Supply Chain Management) at IIM Udaipur stands out among Indian one year MBAs being a dual degree program offered in partnership with the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University, USA. It is also among the few to offer the students, the advantage of summer internship placement, usually associated with the longer 2-year programs.
At this year’s Summer Internship, the Class of 2017-18 with 21 students had a total of 11 companies wooing them for a variety of roles in the Supply Chain domain, including Logistics, Transportation, Planning, Forecasting, Sourcing and Procurement. IIM-U’s PGPX is not an executive or part-time MBA., but a full-time residential program.
Post Internship, students will spend the fall module (5 months) at Krannert. Students of this course graduate with an MS-GSCM degree from Purdue and a Post Graduate Diploma for Executives with a specialization in GSCM from IIM Udaipur.
The 15-month program offers a similar range of electives, demands equal academic rigor and uses the same grading criteria as a two year MBA. It is designed specifically for students with diverse and extensive work experience – a minimum of 2.5 years.
While E-commerce giant Amazon India offered the students an internship opportunity in its Bangalore corporate office, Ernst & Young took in three candidates for a project on logistics and transportation. Consumer goods company, Eureka Forbes recruited two candidates for a project on optimising warehousing & transportation cost and effecting route planning.
With the Goods & Services Tax (GST) implementation scheduled to start from July, a key focus area is the recruiters focus on GST and its post implementation impacts. Every project assigned has the GST component added to it.
Siemens, Cargill and Tupperware recruited candidates for projects based on redesigning supply chains post Goods & Services Tax (GST) implementation. Mahindra & Mahindra offered them roles in a project on forecasting.
Logistic service providers including Babaji Shivram Clearing & Carriers Pvt Ltd and Procam logistics recruited candidates for multiple roles in logistics and warehousing. Start-ups like Athena Supply Chain Lab and Farm Taaza also recruited candidates in challenging roles.
This is the only one year MBA that offers an intensive specialization in Global Supply Chain Management. Unlike other one year programs which include a short international component, PGPX offers a full semester of five months at Purdue University where students have access to world-class faculty and facilities and the chance to learn and work with students from all parts of the world.
