IIM B Only Indian B-School to Feature in FT Executive Education 2015 Top 50 Rankings
0IIM B’s non-degree executive courses have been ranked 48th in the FT Executive Education 2015 Rankings. IIM B has retained its position in the Open Executive Education Rankings at the 53rd position and made an entry to the Customized Executive Education Rankings at the 57th position.
Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is the only Indian Business School to feature in the Financial Times Executive Education 2015 Top 50 Rankings. The FT 2015 Rankings rank IIM B’s non-degree executive courses at the 48th position alongside courses of prestigious institutions such as London Business School, Duke Corporate Education, IMD, Harvard School of Business, University of Oxford among others.
IIM B repeated its success of 2014 by retaining its position at the 53rd ranking in the Open Executive Education category and has debuted this year in the FT Customized Executive Education Rankings at the 57th position.
Executive education refers to non-degree programmes offered to corporations and working professionals which are either ‘Customized’ according to the requirement for the organization or ‘Open’ for all professionals for enrollment. The FT 2015 rankings are based on the participants’ and clients’ satisfaction, the diversity of participants and faculty and the schools international exposure. The participant schools are marked on different parameters from preparation to facilities, which accounts to 80% of the total overall ranking.
Some clarifications – the Executive Education ranking is not a ranking of B-Schools and is not a comment on the overall quality of a B-School in anyway – FT comes out with a separate master ranking of B-Schools . The ranking also does not reflect on the quality of a B-School’s full time Masters in Business Administration (MBA) course, Masters in Business Management (MBM/MIM) course or Executive MBA (part time degree course) – these courses are ranked separately by FT in the Global MBA Ranking, MiM Ranking and Executive MBA ranking respectively. So for instance IIM B’s One Year Full Time Executive Post Graduate Programme is ranked in the FT MBA Ranking and if IIM B’s pre-experience two-year Post Graduate Programme, was to be ranked, it would be ranked in the FT MiM Ranking.
The Executive Education ranking is made up of two separate sub-rankings: The Open Executive Education Ranking which evaluates the top 75 open-enrolment courses — courses on specific topics such as leadership that are directed toward all professionals regardless of their employer and the Customized Executive Education ranking which ranks the top 85 business schools that offer customised programmes tailored to the training needs of the organisations that commission them.
“With a goal to provide the best education in the country, we focus on creating a favourable environment for the students. These efforts help us gain recognition by top executives and corporations in the company. Despite the current challenging job market scenario, it’s important for professionals from across verticals to acquire skills needed to climb up the ladder and move places. IIM B’s tailor made programmes equips professionals to learn about the development of businesses and boost their confidence”, said Professor Shyamal Roy, Chairperson, Executive Education, IIM B.
“Our current position in the FT (Executive Education) ranking is really the result of two factors: the quality of our faculty, and a process of continuous improvement in the delivery of our Executive Education Programmes. In particular, the latter involved a lot of hard work and planning. I am confident that with the path that we have embarked on, we will do even better in the years to come,” said Professor Ishwar Murthy – Dean Faculty, IIM B.
