Class of 2017 Goes Club Class At ISB

One of the USP of the Indian Business School (ISB) is the number of student clubs that provide the cohorts opportunities to apply their classroom learning and to gain leadership and life skills.

For the 905 students in the one year Post Graduate Programme (PGP)   Class of 2017 it translates to connecting with those having similar interests and a platform to interact with alumni and professionals.

The clubs enable them to build formal and informal networks, while exploring career opportunities.

Net Impact Chapter

The biggest among these clubs is the Net Impact Chapter started in 2003 to help future leaders use the power of business to make a difference to society.

It conducts programs such as ISB Global Pro-bono Consulting, iDiya – National Social Ideas Challenge, Board Fellows, Social Responsibility Conclave, and ISB Responsible, with a special focus on development sector careers. It has 743 members with an average 4.80 years of work experience.

Women in Business

Women in Business is a student run professional club on campus that was established in 2010 to empower and equip the women student community to better accomplish personal and professional goals.

It now seeks to empower women across India by arming them with the tools to succeed in the world of business through essential skill enhancement initiatives.

Consulting Club

The Consulting Club that has 563 members with 4.5 years of average work experience.  The Business Technology Club has 362 members with 4.94 years of average work experience.

EVC Club

The Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital (EVC) Club has 355 members with 4.96 years of average work experience.

Business Technology Club

This club is for those interested in careers at the intersection of business and technology. It seeks to equip its members with the relevant skills and exposure to achieve their goals by engaging meaningfully with industry leaders, expanding their professional network, and by leveraging members’ experience to create and share knowledge. It has 362 members with 4.94 years of average experience.

Other Clubs

The Finance Club has 245 members, Healthcare Club 71, Manufacturing & Operations Club 222 and Marketing Club 345 members.

The Class of 2017

The one-year PGP at ISB attracts the finest talent from various industries with experience and the Class of 2017 is no exception. It has a pool of students with varied career backgrounds in Consulting, Finance, Marketing, Technology, Medicine and Defence, among others.

A total 905 students have enrolled for the Class of 2017 at the business school’s two campuses in Hyderabad and Mohali. Of them, 31% are female.

One School, Two Campus

ISB follows the concept of ‘one school – two campuses’, with a common admission policy, academic calendar, mix of resident and visiting faculty (from partner schools) and placement policy.

During admission, students drawn from a common merit list are assigned to either of the campuses randomly in the ratio of class capacities.

There is also an exchange programme between the campuses to promote interaction between the students. The placement portal is common and recruiters have access to the combined pool of talent.

The GMAT mid 80% range is from 590-777 with mean at 704 and median 710.

Class oF 2017 – Industry Wise

The majority of students at 400 have 3 to 5 years work experience and 252, 5 to 8 years experience. While 181 students have up to 3 years experience, 72 have 8 years and above experience.

Industry-wise, 18 are from Consulting, 16 from IT/ITES, 13 Manufacturing and 10 from Oil/Energy/Petroleum/Minerals.

 

Function-wise, Sales & Marketing tops the list with 17 followed by Consulting in the second spot at 16. General Management/Strategic Planning shares the third spot with Operations with 11 students in each sector
