ISB Joins App Party: Launches App for Alums ISB Rocks

There is an app for everything today: to call a cab, get a date, or to simply blog about the highlights of your day and make everybody else feel like a loser (yeah we are talking about Facebook!). ISB has joined the party with its new app ‘ISB Rocks’ – the app enables ISB alumni everywhere to stay in touch 

Dr Shashi Tharoor, Member of Parliament launched ISB Rocks – the ISB Alumni Mobile App at ‘Solstice’, – the ISB Annual Alumni Reunion at the Hyderabad campus.

‘ISB Rocks’ is designed to connect 6200+ ISB alumni with each other and the school apart from helping them get regular updates from the School.

Every year, during Solstice, ISB alumni across the years along with their families are invited to  reconnect with their classmates and alma mater and re-live their days on campus as a student.

Addressing ISB alumni and the current class on the occasion, Dr Shashi Tharoor said, “More and more business graduates take up unconventional jobs and ventures and create a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem. Your education should give you a better understanding of not just markets but a country as a whole. Education is not a socioeconomic issue but an issue of national security. Ethics matter. Politics also needs good managers and good leaders for good governance. Be the change you wish to see. You don’t see the change without quality. Change yourself to change the world.”

The app will help ISB students, present and past, to connect with other alumni in their vicinity whether in a new country or city, using GPS locaters on smart phones

Speaking at the event Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB, said, “Our alumni are our brand ambassadors and have always made us proud. It is a pleasure to welcome them back home. For a young B-School like ours, it is important for all of us to be connected at all times. I am happy that ISB Rocks now makes this easy at the click of a button”.

Going forward, this mobile App will also help ISB students, present and past, to connect with other alumni in their vicinity whether in a new country or city, using GPS locaters on smart phones.  This app will also give regular updates from the School and also send push notifications so that alumni never missed out on any of the School engagements.

It will also help Alumni to post jobs and get updates on job postings. ISB Rocks is currently available on Android for testing. It will be launched on iOS and Blackberry platforms soon.

The ISB alumni network consists of a 6200+ strong network comprising the graduates of the flagship One Year MBA (PGP) and Executive MBA (PGPMAX) alumni spread across 32 countries.  Several ISB alumni have progressed into leadership positions in the corporate world across the globe or become successful entrepreneurs and are also contributing to the social sector in the last few years.

While the ISB alumni base is considerably smaller than that of older B-Schools such as IIMs, S P Jain, XLRI etc, since students join the course, as is custom for most One Year MBA courses in India, after gaining substantial work experience (the ISB Class averages 5 years of work experience), a healthy percentage of ISB’s alumni are already in leadership slots at leading companies.
