National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) Admission 2020
The institute offers six postgraduate diploma programs and a Fellow program.
These are the Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE), Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM), Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management (PGDPM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety & Environmental Management (PGDISEM).
At the Doctoral Level, Fellowship Programs on Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management, Decision Sciences & IT Systems, Project Management, Manufacturing & Systems Management and Industrial Engineering are available.
- To apply for PGDIM/ PGDSIEM courses, aspirants should have full-time Bachelors in Engineering/ Technology degree along with a valid CAT score
- Short-listing for PGDIM/PGDSIEM will be based on CAT score and the performance in GD and PI rounds
- To apply for PGDIE/ PGDPM / PGDMM, applicants must have a full-time Bachelor’s in Engineering/ Technology degree along with valid GATE score
- Admission to PGDIE/ PGDPM / PGDMM will be based on past academic performance, valid GATE score and performance in GD & PI round
- For Fellow courses, applicants requires to have a Master’s degree with 60% marks
- Admissions to PGDIE/ PGDPM / PGDMM courses begin every year in the month of February
- And for PGDIM/ PGDISEMcourses, the application window opens in the month of November
PGDIM/PGDSIEM shortlisting is based on CAT score and the candidates’ performance in GD & PI round.
PGDIE/PGDMM/PGDPM applicants should have a full-time Engineering/Technology degree and valid GATE score. Academic merit, GATE score and performance in GD/ PI are considered for granting admission.
A Master’s degree with 60% marks is necessary for the Fellow Program.
Admissions to PGDIE/PGDMM/PGDPM programmes start in February every year

For PGDIE, PGDIM, PGDPM, PGDISEM Courses
- Institute is offering PG Diploma programmes in a number of specialisations including Manufacturing Management, Industrial Management, etc.
- Eligible aspirants require to apply through online mode only and register themselves on the admissions portal of institute
- Indians are shortlisted for the GD (group discussion) & PI (personal interview) round on the basis of their valid CAT scores, provided they met the minimum eligibility criteria.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to the campus for the GD & PI round.
- A final list of the short-listed applicants is then released based on the composite score which includes the candidate’s academic records, CAT score, work experience (if any) and performance in the GD & PI round.
For PGDMM Course
- Short-listing for GD & PI round will be based on valid GRE/ GATE score (as applicable), past academic performance and relevant understanding of reputed Academic Institution / Industrial Organisation.
- The shortlisted candidates will be invited for GD & PI round at the Mumbai campus.
- A final list of shortlisted applicants is then prepared based on a composite score which includes candidate’s past academic records, GATE score, relevant work experience (if any) and performance in the GD & PI round

NITIE Admission 2020: Fellow Program
The Fellowship program last four years. An excellent academic background and potential for research are essential for the program. Students are granted a monthly stipend and a yearly contingency grant.

NITIE Admission 2020: PGPEX – VLFM
The PGPEX – VLFM is a joint program with IIT Delhi.The students would be awarded PGPEX-VLFM PG Diploma from NITIE and a certificate in manufacturing technology from IIT-Delhi.

NITIE Admission 2020: Application fee
Applicants are allowed to submit applications for one or more programs. Those applying for multiple programs should state their preference on the application form and remit the application fee.
Application fee for PGDIE, PGDIM, PGDISEM, PGDPM, Fellow program is Rs 1000(Rs 500 for SC/ST/PwD) for applicants from India and SAARC nations. The fee can be paid via online payment gateway. The registration of candidates and submission of applications are online only through the admissions portal.
For the applicants from India & SAARC nations, application Fee for PGDMM program is Rs 1000 (Rs 500 for SC/ST/PwD) and For the for International applicants US$ 50, plus bank charges as applicable.
The fee is to be remitted online. Just because a candidate fulfills the minimum qualifications does not automatically grant him/her any right to be invited for GD and PI.
Step-by-Step Guide to fill up and submit application form
- Register yourself on the admissions portal
- Fill upyour personal details as well as educational qualifications, work experience, extra-curricular activities, CAT score and payment-related information
- Click the relevant tab to fill in the related information
- If you need any help, click on the instructions hyperlink
- Enter information as per the specified format on each page.Remember to press the ‘Save’ button to save it as there is no automatic saving provision.
- Follow the instructions for selecting the date of birth from the calendar
- Enter UG marks semester-wise (aggregate marks will be automatically calculated by taking the average of all the semesters).
- CAT score should be entered immediately after the result is announced. This should be done before the online admission portalcloses.
- For online payments, press the ‘Make Payment’ tab.
- Ensure that you have filled in all the required information.
- Remember that the form can be submitted only after providing the CAT score and payment details
PGPEX – VLFM applicants should follow the steps mentioned below:
- Download the application form. You are expected to file detailed responses
- The application portal will be working around the admission time. However, the institute also accepts the completed application form by email or through speed post
- Remember to attach the relevant DD and the self-attested certificates along with the application
- There is a separate form for Letter of Reference (LOR). Candidates can share the link for LOR with their recommended/download and share the soft copy. The filled-in Letter of References needs to be sent independently and should reach the VLFM office by the due date. Pending Letter of reference would result the cancellation of your application and no refund will be provided
- This program actively seeks sponsored and self-supported candidates. If you are sponsored candidate, make sure that the letter of sponsorship is attached with your application form.
International Student Admissions at NITIE
- The application procedure is common for all the programs. You can apply for more than one program. If applying for more than one, you should give your preferences and pay the pre-defined application fees.
- Application fee for each program is US$ 50 for International students, plus bank charges. This fee can be paid through a payment gateway.
- The eligible candidates should apply online only and register themselves on the admissions portal
Shortlists for GD and PI Process
International applicants are shortlisted for the GD & PI round based on valid GMAT scores, IELTS/ TOEFL (applicable for foreign candidates only) and minimum aggregate of 60% marks in the qualifying degree. Shortlisted candidates are then called to the campus for the GD and PI process.
For PGDMM
Shortlisted International applicants need to attend GD & PI along with Indian applicants or alternatively they can take up an extempore speech & PI through video conferencing.

NITIE Mumbai Admission: FAQs
A: A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. These are given after the start of program at the discretion of the institute. All candidates have to pay the prescribed fee upfront during admission.
A: All applicants to the program should possess a Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Economics/ Management/ Social Sciences/ Commerce/ Life Sciences and Pure Sciences with 60% aggregate from a recognised university or institution. For SC/ST or PwD category candidates, the eligibility criteria is 55%.
A: Application for admission to all programs at NITIE should be filled online at the admission portal on the official website. The institute would not accept any offline application form.
A: The PGDIE flagship programme of NITIE Mumbai is the Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE).It was launched to meet the cross-functional competence needs of the industry.
A: For PGDMM, candidates are first shortlisted on the basis of a valid score in GATE/ GRE (as applicable). They are then called for GD & PI at the Mumbai campus. Final selection is on academic performance, entrance exam score along with GD & PI score.
A: The minimum cut off score for CAT exam to apply for PGDIM course is 97 percentile. Applicants have to apply separately via online application form at the official website.
A: English language is preferred at GD & PI round. However, applicants can speak in any language they are comfortable.
