MAT 2020 Examination Cut-off: Everything You Want to Know

Each MAT participating institute sets an individual cut-off based on the MAT score. These institutes announce the MAT cut-offs for each academic session at the time of admissions. Most of the institutes accept candidates with 70-80 MAT percentiles.

What after the MAT Cut-off is declared?

Once the institutes announce their cut-offs, eligible candidates can apply for admission. Each college has a separate registration process which can be checked on their website. Shortlisting of candidates depends on the following factors:

  • MAT scores
  • Academic performance
  • Work experience (if any)
  • In case the NRI seats are vacant, general candidates will be taken

Q. What does the MAT cut-off mean?

A: The minimum marks needed to be eligible for the selection rounds conducted by the participating institutions for admissions.


Q. Are there cut-offs for each section also in MAT?

A: No, there are no sectional cut-offs in MAT.

Q. How is the MAT Composite score calculated?

A: The MAT composite score is scaled from 200 to 800. The MAT exam carries a total of 200 marks. The General Awareness section has a separate scorecard with scores ranging from 0 to 100.

Q. Does AIMA have any role in setting the MAT cut-offs?

A: AIMA does not have any control over the cut-offs set as these are individually set by the colleges accepting MAT score.

Q. Will I secure admission if I clear the MAT cut off limit set by a particular institute?

A: Clearing the cut off does not necessarily guarantee admission. The final admission is based on MAT score and performance in group discussion (GD) and personal interview (PI) rounds.
