What is the difference between NMAT Scaled Score & Percentile score?

A good number of students are often unable to differentiate between the NMAT scaled score and Percentile score which leads to a lot of confusion. Read the definitions below to get a clear idea.

Scaled scores: After the test is conducted, the tests are brought into a common scale so as to eliminate any differences based on the difficulty levels of each test form (NMAT question paper). By doing this, the score of the candidate is not dependent on the question paper difficulty level.

Final Percentile Score: In March 2020, the NMAT percentile result is released. The candidate’s scaled score is converted into a percentile score with reference to the number of candidates who took the test. For instance, if a candidate’s NMAT percentile score is 98, then his score is considered to be better than 98 per cent of the candidates who took the test.

Note: The NMAT score V/s Percentile is not a crucial factor when compared to other MBA entrance exams like CAT, XAT and others. In NMAT, the weightage is mainly for the cut offs. Also Read: Understanding NMAT Normalization Process
