Mount Saint Mary’s University has introduced a hybrid Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) that combines classroom and online instruction mainly aimed at working professionals.
The program, with classes held during the weekends, at the only women’s university in Los Angeles, is open to both women and men.
“The course would provide the benefits of a traditional educational setting, leading-edge educational technology and the widely recognized academic rigour of a Mount Saint Mary’s education,” Mark Alhanati, Business Administration department chair, said.
The Foundation courses for the 18-month program begins from the fall semester, concurrent with the program’s August launch. Core concentration courses will start in spring 2017.
The online course work is based on the technology portal, Canvas. It will be supplemented with twice-weekly classroom sessions held every other week at Mount Saint Mary’s Doheny Campus near downtown Los Angeles.
The final semester includes a China immersion study trip, career coaching and a speaker symposium series. The program offers some degree of flexibility and could be completed in 15 to 18 months.

The hybrid MBA degree program also offers concentrations in entrepreneurship/social entrepreneurship, organizational leadership and project management.
The MBA is open to Bachelor’s Degree holders in any field. Those without undergraduate business preparation are offered Business Foundations courses as they enter the weekend MBA program. Others enter directly into their first semester of cohort study.

Mount Saint Mary’s uses theme-based modules instead of the traditional course-by-course masters curriculum. It also blends the various disciplines that are usually kept separate like marketing, finance, and business law to help students develop the “big picture” view of how all these come together in a real business environment.
The program culminates in a real world final project where students will be part of a team working with a company or non-profit organisation to solve a business problem, market a new product or service, or develop a strategy for future growth. (Image Courtesy : en.wikipedia.org)
