Students from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford will be will be going on a business trek to India for 5 days for networking opportunities with some of the region’s biggest multinationals and start-ups within the sectors of ecommerce, consultancy, private equity firms and technology.

The visit is an opportunity for students with interests in finance, consulting, technology, entrepreneurship and ecommerce to increase their understanding of business developments and issues in the region.

Organised by Alind Choudhry, Shipra Singh, and Nitish Huria of the current Oxford MBA class, the trek will enable students to visit industry leaders, build a network of contacts, and attain a much deeper understanding of the reasons behind the regions success as well as its challenges going forward.

Many Oxford alumni who are already living and working in the area have been instrumental in helping to organise the trip by arranging corporate visits and events.

Alind Choudhry said: ‘India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, yet its position in the ‘Doing Business’ annual reports published by the World Bank continues to be less favorable. Through the India trek we hope to meet Indian business leaders, understand their challenges and explore entrepreneurial opportunities.

16 students are undertaking the trek, and all are keen to forge strong connections and to learn from the companies they will meet on their visit across a range of sectors. The meetings are designed to be mutually beneficial with students contributing innovative and strategic ideas, as well as engaging in discussions on the pivotal challenges and opportunities that the companies are facing today.

Deb Findley, Careers Advisor at Saïd Business School will also be joining the trip. She will be strengthening links between the School and companies, establishing contacts with alumni and helping identify potential job opportunities for MBAs in the region.
