The part-time MBA program has two distinct tracts:  the Evening MBA program and the Weekend MBA program. Many have proposed calling it the weekend or evening MBA program because of these two options.

An analysis of Hass’s EWMBA scheduling page gives you many options. For example, you’ll have the option of taking classes on Mondays and Wednesdays or on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can take classes from 6:00 P.M. to 9:45 P.M. on any of these days. There is a 45-minute break scheduled in between. Elective courses are offered in the evenings Monday thru Thursday.

The weekend track holds core classes from 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. There are two scheduled 15-minute breaks and a lunch hour. The entire course spans six semesters. The first three of which are structured during the daytime. However, the last three consists of elective courses. These are scheduled from 10:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. There is a lunch hour and two 15-minute breaks which are scheduled in.

Other logistics

San Francisco has its transportation and logistics issues, just like any other big metro in the world. Berkeley Haas has provided some relief in this respect by offering weeknight shuttle services throughout the South Bay and Peninsular areas. This shuttle operates only on the weekdays though. However, students can easily avail the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) services. The station is only a block away from UC Berkeley.

MBA students who are not from the Bay area find the BART and its services to be a Godsend, largely because it runs to the San Francisco International Airport. This makes commuting easy.

The Bay Area is infamous for bad gridlock and congestion. This causes traffic to always move at a snail’s pace! Since weeknight classes begin at 6 P.M. sharp, you should strongly consider making arrangements with your workplace accordingly. For example, you can ask to work half days on the two nights that classes are held. This is something that you must consider and arrange before applying to the Haas School of Business.

Berkeley Haas Part-Time MBA Curriculum

The UC Berkeley Evening and Weekend MBA Curriculum consist of 13 core courses. These are mandatory. You can spread them out over the duration of the first three semesters (Fall of the first year through Fall of the second year.) You’ll be taking electives after this. The electives are designed to help you create a customized and personalized curriculum that will perfectly match your career and industry goals.

You can also participate in the Haas experiential learning program. You’ll be able to participate in We Innovate. This is a mid-program retreat. You and your classmates will head to a scenic location. You’ll be resolving a real-life business situation there. Berkeley Haas Part-Time MBA Interview

The Berkeley Haas EWMBA program has recently begun to substitute traditional interviews for video interviews. They don’t issue questions ahead of time. However, the admissions committee has hinted that one interview question will ask you why you are interested in attending Berkeley Haas. Another question focuses on your leadership abilities, qualities, and skills. You’ll be given 1-2 minutes to answer each question as thoroughly as you can. The admissions committee will send you the video link 1-2 days after you submit your application.
