Which profession or city would you choose to command the highest salaries in India? The answer to these questions would be Information Technology jobs and Bengaluru, one of the most vibrant among the country’s IT hubs.
This is for the third consecutive year the Karnataka Capital has captured the first spot in the Randstad Insights Salary Trends Report 2019. Executives in the city received the highest salaries at the junior, mid-level and senior levels.
The Report analyzed 1,00,000 jobs across 15 industry verticals and functions, spread across eight major cities.

Junior level executives (0-6 years) in Bengaluru received an average salary of Rs 5.27 lakh. Hyderabad stood second with Rs 5 lakh average salary and Mumbai with Rs 4.59 lakh third. Pune came fourth with Rs 4.38 lakh and the National Capital Region (NCR) Rs 4.29 lakh.
Mid-level executives with 6-15 years of work experience in Bangalore received an average salary of Rs 16.45 lakh followed by Mumbai with Rs 15.07 lakh, Hyderabad with Rs 14.08 lakh, NCR with an average salary of Rs 14.5 lakh and Pune with Rs 14.07 lakh.
Senior executives (15 years work experience) drew an average salary of Rs 35.45 lakh in Bengaluru, Rs 33.95 lakh in Mumbai, Rs 32.68 in Pune and Rs 30.73 lakh each in Hyderabad and NCR.
Among professionals, those working in the IT industry received the highest average annual CTCs at the junior level at Rs 4.96 lakh and senior level at Rs 35.84 lakh.
Digital Marketers emerged as the highest-paid functional role for senior professionals, with an average annual CTC of Rs 35.65 lakh.
The spike in openings for those possessing digital skills in AI & Automation, Analytics, Cloud and product management could be a major factor for the sector’s strong showing this year, the report said.
The increase in demand for GST compliance specialists, accountants, management consultants and lawyers also led to the professional services sector becoming the second-highest paying sector for junior and senior-level executives.
Meanwhile, there is a strong demand across industries for executives with 6-10 years of work experience. They could expect to receive higher remuneration than others with similar work experience and salary range.
They include Compliance Specialists drawing an average annual CTC at Rs 31.09 lakh, Python Specialists with a CTC of Rs 20.24 lakh, Hadoop Specialists at Rs 19.01 lakh and Specialist Doctors with a CTC of Rs 18.01 lakh.
Randstad India MD & CEO Paul Dupuis explains that talent with the “right-fit” skills commands a significant premium. Companies are not constrained by bell curves and averages when it comes to the salary structure for professionals with in-demand skills, evidenced by the findings of this report.
