IIM Calcutta’s one-year MBA in Manufacturing (Post-graduate program for executives for visionary leadership in manufacturing – PGPEX-VLM) has completed final placements for its batch of 2013-14 with an 11% increase in average salary to Rs 14.75 lakh, compared to Rs 13 lakh last year. The highest salary bagged by the batch of 38, including six sponsored candidates, is Rs 22.5 lakh.
Management consulting firms led the pack in terms of total hiring offers to the candidates, followed by automotive, general management, engineering and heavy engineering, infrastructure, supply chain, and IT. Consulting firms such as TCS, CGN Consulting, Valcon Management Consultants, Accenture and KPMG gave the maximum number of offers.
The automotive domain was represented by the likes of Daimler, Renault Nissan, TVS, and Wheels India. L&T and Crane Flow were the employers in the engineering and heavy engineering sector. Markets and Markets, Reliance Cement, Dr. Reddy’s Lab and ABB Global Services offered placements in the sectors of general management, infrastructure, supply chain, and IT respectively.

Our programme helps create a pool of change leaders who not only have the expertise in manufacturing but also develop an appreciation for the bigger role of manufacturing in the improvement of our country’s society, economy and environment.”
The PGPEX-VLM, with dual accreditation of AACSB and AMBA, aims to create visionary leaders to enhance competitiveness of the Indian manufacturing industry. This programme is the first one to be jointly conducted by three reputed institutes, namely, IIM Calcutta, IIT Kanpur , and IIT Madras. The programme has an international dimension in the form of the students taking 2-3 weeks of industry visit in Japan for studying best manufacturing practices under the aegis of Japan International Cooperation Agency ( JICA).
