Admission to the one-year full-time MBA program at SFU Beedie School of Business in Vancouver, Canada starting in Fall 2018 is about to close with Round 3 scheduled for March 16 and the final round on May 11.
The school says with a maximum of just 55 students, the personalized SFU Beedie MBA learning experience lets you explore your interests, discover your strengths and take risks in a collegial, supportive environment.

You should possess a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0/4.33 (B), or a grade point average of at least 3.33/4.33 (B+) based on the last 60 credits of undergraduate courses. All graduate work is also considered. Completing Beedie’s GDBA with a 3.0 or higher will allow it to be counted as your considering CGPA.
Two or more years of full-time, professional work experience is required (competitive recommendation is 3.5 or more years) is a mandatory requirement. However, exceptional candidates with fewer than two years of experience may be considered on a case by case basis.
The minimum GMAT score is 550 or an equivalent GRE score. Applicants whose primary language is not English, or whose previous education was conducted in another language, must submit evidence of satisfactory completion of a standardized English test.
The tuition fee for domestic applicants is $39,800 and for international candidates $49,700. In addition, there is a $5,500-$6,000 MBA Experiential Project fee, subject to Board of Governors approval.
The minimum acceptable test scores are: TOEFL 93 with a minimum of 20 in each category (Internet-based exam); or TOEFL 580 and TWE 5 (paper-based exam); or IELTS (the academic not the general test) with a 7.0 overall band score and a minimum of 6.5 in any section; and Pearson Test of Academic English (PTE Academic) with a minimum overall score of 63, and a minimum of 65 in speaking and writing.
The selection process includes a face-to-face interview, as well as a review of professional and personal experience, extracurricular and volunteer activities and written submissions.
Students who have completed the GDBA (and have met the CGPA and other requirements of the MBA program) may qualify to apply to have some courses in the MBA program waived. Completion of the GDBA with a 3.5 GPA allows prospective applicants for the MBA program to waive the GMAT requirement.

The program allows students at the end of the 12-month curriculum, the opportunity to apply their newly acquired knowledge in a real-world setting. It allows them to learn and develop skills and recover from mistakes in a safe and supportive environment.
They get the options of undertaking a 4-month paid work term, start their own new venture through Coast Capital Savings Venture Connection or move straight into a permanent role.
The full-time four-month work terms begin each September. Compensation is at market rates—an average of $4,340 a month—and negotiated directly with you and your work term employer. A work term is a risk-free way to try out a particular role or industry sector to see if it’s worth pursuing in your career.
The roles include Business Development & Sales Forecasting, Corporate Finance & Financial Analysis, Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability and Information Technology Management.
The students will be able to work with AMEC, BC Hydro, City of Vancouver, Deloitte, Ecotrust Canada and Lululemon Athletica, among others.
The students also have the option of moving straight into a graduate employment position with their previous or new employer. At the end of the first four months, they have to submit a report as part of the program.
Unlike other MBA programs, female representation is 52% and male 48%. The average age of the cohort is 28 years. The average GMAT score is 615 and average work experience 5 years.
