0This is the core question being asked at X-TEND 2014 – the maiden leadership conclave of XLRI and the flagship event of the XLRI Leadership Series. The event is set to be held on the XLRI campus on 17th April 2014.
Jamshedpur, 16th April, 2014: XLRI in association with Centre of Global Management and Responsible Leadership (CGMRL) is all set to host X-TEND 2014 on 17th April 2014 – the maiden leadership conclave of XLRI and the flagship event of the XLRI Leadership Series. The event is being organised by the one year MBA (PGDM-GM) class at XLRI.
The theme for this year’s conference is Designing Future-ready Organizations. The conclave aims to bring together five panelists – Sr. Executives in top firms in India, 2 Academicians and 100 plus students from various B-School on the same platform to discuss and share their experiences.
The panel discussion provides a forum where the existing leaders of various organisations would share their views with the leaders of the future on the structures required to build and sustain world-class organisations. To achieve this, the discussion will elicit the views of people from diverse backgrounds and bring out their expectations of the various functions within a company in shaping the organizations today.
The panellists include experienced professionals and academicians such as Mr. Arup Datta, Technical Director, KPMG, Mr Ritesh Ghosal, Head-Brand Marketing ,Tata Teleservices, Ms Sujitha Karnad, Group HR, Mahindra & Mahindra, Fr Oswald Marcarenhas, JRD Tata Chair in Business Ethics at XLRI to name a few along with Moderator Dr Jitendra Singh, International Relations – Chairperson, XLRI.

Ambarish Dasgupta – Partner and Head of Management Consulting KPMG
Ambarish is a Partner and Head of Management Consulting in KPMG. He is a member of Advisory Leadership Team and Global Management Consulting Leadership team. He has 25 years of experience in Consulting/ Advisory and in managing projects covering Strategy, Process, Technology, Finance and Organizational change.
Mr Arup Dutta – Technical Director, KPMG
Arup is a Technical Director in the Management Consulting practice of KPMG, India. He has overall 18 years of working experience. He has more than 12 years working experience in ERP Advisory and 15 years of experience in consulting industry.
Mr Ritesh Ghosal – Head-Brand Marketing, Tata Teleservices
Ritesh has 18 years of experience across brand management, business leadership, advertising and consumer insight. He is Head of Brand Marketing at Tata teleservices where he oversees brand and marketing programs for Tata DoCoMo, Virgin and Photon. His achievements include: creation of brand Tata DoCoMo and its launch proposition – pay-per-second.
Ms Sujitha Karnad – Group HR, Mahindra & Mahindra
Sujitha is currently with the Corporate Group HR of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., its Apex HR body responsible for driving key initiatives across the Group. Until recently she was the Global Head of Human Resources & Software Quality for Tech Mahindra Ltd., then a 50,000 strong organization that provided IT services to major Telecom companies globally. She has close to 3 decades of experience in IT services spanning several domains.
Fr Oswald Marcarenhas – JRD Tata Chair in Business Ethics at XLRI
Fr. Oswald A. J. Mascarenhas S. J. holds a MBA (Finance and Marketing) and PhD in Business and Applied Economics from Wharton School of Business: University of Pennsylvania in 1976. After 27 years as a faculty member at the college of business University of Detroit Mercy where he was the Charles Kellstadt Chair of Marketing he returned to his alma mater, St. Aloysius College,India as Chairman MBA programs.
Dr. Jitendra Singh – International Relations – Chairperson, XLRI
Dr. Singh did his Ph.D. from Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania; USA, and MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur and did his graduation in B.A. (Economics Honours) from St. Xavier’s College, Calcutta University. He is currently Chairman of International Relations. He had served for 4 years as Dean at XLRI in 1980-84. From October 1984 to May 2007 he was associated with Tata Steel where he spearheaded the company’s HR initiatives for 24 years.

XLRI’s Leadership Series is a platform for the students at XLRI to interact with business and social leaders. The series features talks and discussions with industry veterans and social leaders and helps the students acquire diverse perspectives and insights into the industry.
The Center for Global Management and Responsible Leadership (CGMRL) was jointly set up by The School of Business Administration at Loyola University Chicago (SBA) along with Xavier Labor Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur, India in 2009. The center encourages interdisciplinary scholarly research and management training.
